In this tutorial, we are going to show you how to make this lovely paper yarn lamp at home.
Prepare the following:
Part 1: The preparation for lamp
• A plastic bottle
• Some packaging tape or masking tape.
• A small saw/scissors
• Some sand paper
Part 2: The making of lamp
• Paper yarn, the colour is your choice
• Modge-Podge, I used glossy texture.
• Few rubber bands
A pendant lighting arrangement
A 1″ foam brush. Please don’t replace this with painting brush.
Cut the bottle and sand the edges first. If the bottle has a curve, below the label, wrap with tape to
make the whole surface even.
Then sand the whole top of the bottle – this will prevent the yarn from slipping, while you wrap it
Now wrap a few rubber bands around the neck. Apply a little bit of modge podge to the paper yarn and stick it as close to the neck as possible – just below the rubber bands and press for a while. Then
start wrapping the paper yarn around the bottle. But be careful – it should be neither too tight nor too loose. Wrap one inch, secure with tape and apply modge podge generously. Wait for at least 10 minutes, before going for the next section.
You may need to use a few pieces of tape to secure the paper yarn. When you finish wrapping it around, apply modge podge generously and wait for at least 10 minutes. Repeat this until you
reach the end. Leave the bottle overnight and before doing anything else you should be 100% it is completely dry.
Now you only have to remove the bottle slowly and end up with a lovely lamp. Make two or three of them to enjoy it to the fullest.
